Topic:- Place of Articulation. 

Place of articulation refers to the specific location where two or more articulators (organs involved in speech production) come together to form a constriction or closure, thereby producing different speech sounds. The place of articulation plays a significant role in distinguishing and classifying consonant sounds. Examples of different places of articulation, along with corresponding consonant sounds, include:

2. Labiodental: The lower lip comes into contact with the upper teeth. - Examples: /f/ in "fit," /v/ in "vet"

3. Dental: The tongue tip or blade touches the upper teeth. - Example: /θ/ in "think," /ð/ in "that"

4. Alveolar: The tongue tip or blade touches the alveolar ridge, which is the bumpy part just behind the upper teeth.

   - Examples: /t/ in "top," /d/ in "dog," /s/ in "sip," /z/ in "zip," /n/ in "not," /l/ in "lake"

5. Palatal: The body of the tongue contacts the hard palate.

   - Examples: /ʃ/ in "shoe," /ʒ/ in "measure," /j/ in "yes"

6. Velar: The back of the tongue contacts the soft part of the roof of the mouth (velum).

   - Examples: /k/ in "cat," /g/ in "get," /ŋ/ in "sing"

7. Glottal: The vocal cords partially or completely close in the area of the glottis.

   - Example: /h/ in "hat"
